About the game

A different dive, a different body

Hetero-Genesis is a 2D deep-sea action roguelite. Choose a starting species, graft organs onto your creature, and survive with the body you build. Every new part can change your next fight; losing one can change it again.

Graft

Graft your next advantage

Combine venom glands, electric organs, shells, and other body parts. Weigh a new organ's ability against the synergies it can unlock, then choose where it belongs on your body. Build around poison, electricity, protection, or a combination of your own.

Survive

Keep your body together

Your organs are more than a list of bonuses. Vital parts can be damaged or broken, disrupting the synergy you depend on. Move through incoming threats, use your abilities, and adapt when your strongest combination stops working.

Evolve

Choose how you evolve

Survive waves and bosses to reach new evolutionary choices. Deepen your species' instinct, graft traits from another ecology, or take a different mutation path. Each decision changes what your next build can become.

Dive again

A different dive, a different body

Try different species origins and organ combinations. Unlock new starting options through progression, then add Abyss difficulty and deep-dive contracts when you are ready for more pressure.

Species

Ten bodies, ten survival plans

Every species grants its own native organ and survival trait, and grows through three stages as a dive goes deeper.

Preview: the three growth stages of each species, as seen in the in-game codex.

World

Three arenas of the deep

Each dive takes place in one of three procedurally arranged biomes, with their own terrain, obstacles and pressure.

Reef Shelf

The sunlit shelf near the surface — coral mazes and open sand, where every dive begins.

Hydrothermal Vent

Scalding chimneys and mineral spires. Narrow passages punish careless drifts.

Abyss Bloom

The lightless plain far below, lit only by blooms of bioluminescent life.

FAQ

Questions & answers

Which platforms is the game on?
PC (Windows) via Steam is the current focus. The game is played on landscape screens with keyboard or gamepad.
Is there multiplayer?
No. Hetero-Genesis is a single-player game — every dive is yours alone.
What languages does it support?
English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
How long is a run?
A dive is a short run: ten waves with three boss fights, closing with an evolution choice. Deeper abyss tiers and contracts stretch the same loop with more pressure.
Can my body really fall apart mid-fight?
Yes. Every organ has its own health. When a part takes too much damage it breaks, its synergy stops working, and you have to fight on with what is left — or repair it if you get the chance.
